I recently had the opportunity to visit Iceland, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the country’s rugged and beautiful landscape. From the icy blue glaciers to the dramatic cliffs and waterfalls, Iceland is a true natural wonder.
Northern Lights ... OMG
One of the highlights of my trip was viewing the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights. Iceland is one of the best places in the world to see this natural phenomenon, and it did not disappoint. We went on a tour to a dark, remote location outside of the city, and were rewarded with a stunning display of green, pink, and purple lights dancing across the sky. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Golden Circle - Geysir and Waterfall
Another popular attraction in Iceland is the Golden Circle, a route that takes you to some of the country’s most iconic natural landmarks. We visited the Geysir geothermal area, where we saw the famous Strokkur geyser erupting every few minutes. We also stopped at the Gullfoss waterfall, a massive and powerful cascade of water, and Thingvellir National Park, a site of both natural and historical significance.
Visiting Ice Caves
One of the most unique experiences we had in Iceland was exploring an ice cave. We took a tour with a local guide, who led us deep into a glacier and showed us the stunning, blue-hued ice formations inside. It was a truly unforgettable experience.
In addition to its natural attractions, Iceland has a rich and fascinating history. We spent some time exploring the capital city of Reykjavik and learning about the country’s Viking past. We visited the Viking Museum and saw artifacts from the early Icelandic settlers, as well as the impressive Hallgrimskirkja Church, which towers over the city.
Iceland was an amazing destination, full of natural beauty and cultural treasures. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure.
